Draw and edit shapes

Draw shapes, edit nodes and curves, rotate, scale and arrange. Combine, cut and separate regions until it's exactly right.

Artwork to stitches

Import SVG, PNG or JPEG artwork and turn it into editable designs. Trace over reference images, or bring in existing stitch files.

Every animal also comes in both one-colour and multicolour versions, which we've counted only once. Search by name or keyword, save your own designs alongside them, and check for new additions whenever you choose.³

For years, serious embroidery software has meant a hardware key: a little USB dongle that has to be plugged in before the program will even open. Lose it, break it, or leave it at the shop, and you're not stitching today.

Embroidery Studio has none of that. It installs from the Mac App Store like any other Mac app, it's ready whenever you are, and your whole family can share it.

When will Embroidery Studio be available?

Soon. It's in final preparation for the Mac App Store. Email us and we'll let you know the day it launches.

Do I need a USB key or dongle?

No. There's no hardware key and no third-party copy protection. Embroidery Studio is a regular Mac App Store app tied to your Apple ID, so there's nothing to plug in, lose or break.

Can my family use it too?

Yes. Embroidery Studio supports Family Sharing, so once you've bought it, up to five other members of your Apple family group can download it on their own Macs at no extra cost. There's no dongle to pass around and no licence to transfer.

Where does the library value come from?

We priced each design the way you'd buy it from an embroidery design shop: US$4.99 per detailed animal, US$3.25 per flag and US$2.99 per simple shape, all at or below typical single-design prices. 844 animals, 313 flags and 32 shapes come to US$5,324.49. The multicolour and one-colour versions of each animal are counted as one design.

Do I need embroidery experience?

No. The Simple interface, guided tour and step-by-step Help are designed for your first project. Switch to Comprehensive whenever you want more control.

Will it work with my embroidery machine?

Embroidery Studio exports PES, PEC, DST, EXP, JEF, HUS, VP3 and XXX, and includes documented profiles for machines from many makers. Always check your exact model, hoop size and the file variant your machine expects before sewing. Physical results depend on your machine and materials.

If you ever find a problem with your machine, send us the file and your machine details. We'll work with you to fix it, and if we can't, we'll help you get a full refund through Apple.

Do I need Apple Intelligence?

No. Drawing, lettering, the bundled library and export all work without it. Design with Words requires a Mac with Apple Intelligence enabled and ready.

Can it send designs directly to my machine over Wi-Fi?

Not at launch. Embroidery Studio saves machine files to any folder you choose (including USB sticks and network shares), which you then load on your machine.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The design library, machine catalogue and Help are all built in. An internet connection is only used for online reference-image search and checking for new library designs, and both can be switched off.

Some library artwork is adapted from openly licensed illustrations, credited in the app.
Family Sharing requires an Apple Family Sharing group of up to six people, set up in Settings on each member's device. Each family member needs a Mac that meets Embroidery Studio's system requirements.
